The Challenge
Super Laundry, originally a small laundrette, has expanded to five major laundries across central London, supplying about a million towels weekly. Post-COVID, the utility crisis struck hard, causing their gas prices to skyrocket by 1000% overnight. This massive increase threatened their operational viability, particularly given their significant energy consumption from running laundry services. The additional pressure of having to demonstrate progress towards net zero to customers trying to reduce their own scope 3 emissions, left them facing what seemed like an impossible task.
Why Choose Fox Energy & True
William Ray, the Director of Super Laundry, sought assistance from Fox Energy, a company with whom they had already established a solid working relationship. Paul Dilley, Managing Director of Fox Energy, brought years of expertise in corporate and commercial energy tailored to individual business needs, however, recognising the complexities of Super Laundry’s energy demands, Paul introduced Andy Powell, Business Development Director at True and together they implemented a comprehensive energy procurement strategy that focused on a long-term strategy for tackling volatile energy markets through flexible procurement.
To further bolster their efforts, Andy introduced the True platform, designed to provide full visibility of their energy usage and costs but also allowing them to model their carbon reduction projects and build their net zero strategy, addressing the growing pressure from clients to demonstrate their carbon reduction plan.
A Successful Partnership
The collaboration between Super Laundry, Fox Energy, and True resulted in a robust and effective partnership. True's platform provided William Ray with the tools needed to monitor and reduce their carbon footprint, making it easier to manage their substantial gas, electricity, and water usage.
Paul Dilley emphasised the importance of the partnership, stating, “The synergy between Fox Energy and True allows us to capture and analyse data efficiently, delivering proposals and implementing technologies that help our customers meet their carbon reduction targets.” This integrated approach ensured that Super Laundry not only managed their energy costs but also progressed towards sustainability goals.
Andy Powell added, “We don’t just look at procurement or sustainability in isolation; we consider both together. This dual focus ensures that businesses achieve the most significant positive outcomes for both their cash flow and carbon reduction efforts.”
William Ray expressed his gratitude, “I can’t recommend Fox and True highly enough for all the help they’ve given us over the years. They have the breadth and depth of knowledge and experience to navigate the complexities of contracts and invoicing. It’s fair to say they’ve probably saved us millions. This truly is a partnership, and we look forward to a long and lasting relationship with them.”
Through this partnership, Super Laundry was able to transform an overwhelming challenge into an opportunity for growth and sustainability, demonstrating the power of collaboration and innovative energy management.
